See in the collectionThe small canvas signed and dated 1867, held to be a sketch for the large picture: given by Manet to Méry Laurent, passed through Victor Margueritte and Montaignac, it was with Bernheim-Jeune in 1906 and with Denys Cochin in 1909, the very year he let the large version go to Mannheim, then with Durand-Ruel from 1910[1, 2].

Today: At the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, Copenhagen, acquired by the Copenhagen museum in 1914, according to the Rouart and Wildenstein catalogue, no. 125[1].
