  The kitchen gardens of L’Hermitage, signed and dated 1879: sold by Durand-Ruel to Baron Denys Cochin on 20 March 1903 and taken back three days later, on 23 March, the shortest of his purchases^{[1, 2]}.

  Today: In a private collection; Durand-Ruel still held it in 1957^[1]. The Kitchen Garden at L’Hermitage in the Musée d’Orsay, also of 1879, RF 1937 48, is another picture, no. 607 of the catalogue, 55 × 65 cm^[3]. Of no. 598, his, a colour photograph circulates, put online after the Galerie Kornfeld in Bern, a sign that it passed through a sale there^[4].
