See in the collectionNo. 3505 of Vollard’s book A, bought from Cochin for 400 francs on 26 October 1899, the day of the exchange, which the Cézanne catalogue matches to no known canvas[1]. Vollard’s two other entries of the same day, bought from Cochin at the same price of 400 francs, are identified: no. 3384 is The Seine at the Quai d’Austerlitz after Guillaumin, no. 3506 the Clearing[2, 3]. Nothing he owned measures 60 by 102, a long format unlike his Cézannes; the canvas of the poplars may never have been a Cézanne, or may not yet have been found[1].
