The collection of Baron Denys Cochin
Matissenot found
A View of the Bois de Boulogne
See in the collectionBought from Vollard in mid-May 1906 with a small landscape, on folio 93 of the dealer’s register, where another entry bears the date of 17 May[1, 2]. Two years later, on 28 April 1908, Vollard sold Shchukin, for 800 francs, a View of the Bois de Boulogne of 1902, 65 × 81, now in the Pushkin Museum in Moscow[3]. If the dealer had only one, it is Denys Cochin’s, back in the rue Laffitte in between like so many of his purchases; the receipts of the collection kept in photocopy at the Getty Research Institute would tell[3, 4].
In his hands: Came in May 1906, from Vollard
